- Tupuya and Ges Indian Creation Legends
- The Karaya tribe of this group have a culture hero named Kaboi (known to the Arawaks as Kamu, to the Caribs as Tamu, to the Paraguayans as Zume, and to the Arovacs as Camu) who after the Deluge, when the ancestors of the tribe had sought refuge in a cavern, led them to the outer world, to which he was guided by hearing the call of a bird. In another version, Anatiwa having caused the flood, the Karayas fled to Tupimare Mountain and were saved thanks to Saracura, the water hen, bringing earth to the hill-top as fast as the fish sent by Anatiwa nibbled it away. This story is shared with the Ges Indians. The Bakairi Caribs tell of their culture heroes, Keri and Kame, who populated the world with animals after the disaster, having brought them in the hollow trunk of a tree, which may be taken to be a dug-out canoe. The name Kame is a rendering of Kamu.
